Wow, what a chapter! Oda just keeps adding layers to the story, and this one really knocked it out of the park. Chapter 1136 dives deep into the lore of Elbaph, while still giving us those classic One Piece moments that make the series so unforgettable. It’s got humor, action, and plenty of juicy tidbits to keep fans theorizing for weeks.
First off, the Elbaph mythology continues to blow my mind. The connection between Nika, the Sun God, and the giants’ dream to reach the “Sun World” ties beautifully into the larger themes of freedom and hope in the story. Seeing the Straw Hats interact with the giants at the feast was pure fun—Usopp’s tall tales about Oars had me grinning, and the giants’ reactions were gold. It’s moments like these that remind you why you love the crew.
Loki’s backstory? Man, that was heavy. The idea of a cursed prince, doomed even before he was born, just adds so much depth to his character. His wild and destructive childhood, followed by the revelation of his inner struggles, really hit hard. And that moment where the giants called him the “accursed prince” sent chills down my spine. It’s clear that Oda is setting up something big for him, and I can’t wait to see how it all unfolds.
Gunko, though. Holy crap. What a badass introduction! Her design is killer, and her powers with those “bandages” are unlike anything we’ve seen before. She has this air of menace about her that instantly makes you sit up and take notice. And let’s not forget the hooded Shanks—his presence always shakes things up. The mystery surrounding his intentions with Loki is just the kind of thing that keeps fans glued to the story.
The chapter’s pacing was on point. We got moments of laughter, like Luffy figuring out why he reminds people of Nika, mixed with intense scenes, especially at the end when Loki stands his ground. That final panel where Loki looks defiantly at Gunko and hooded Shanks, while the wolf is strung up, was pure cinematic brilliance. It’s the kind of cliffhanger that has you flipping the page, only to realize there’s no next page yet.
If I had to nitpick, I’d say there’s a lot of new information to process, and it might feel overwhelming for some. But honestly, that’s just Oda doing his thing—building a world so rich and detailed that you can’t help but dive deeper.
Rating: 9/10
This chapter was everything I wanted and more. Elbaph is shaping up to be one of the most legendary arcs in One Piece history. Between the lore, the new characters, and the setup for what’s to come, it’s clear that we’re in for something truly special. Oda, you mad genius, keep it coming!
What did you all think? Can’t wait to hear everyone’s theories!
